As part of its COVID-19 emergency measures, the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) made arrangements to offer low barrier shelter services within the City of North Bay. The low barrier shelter began operating on August 10th at 590 Chippewa Street for 12 hours a day for overnight shelter services from 8:30PM to 8:30AM, 7 days a week until March 31st 2021 and subject to provincial approval.

As the winter months approach DNSSAB is exploring the purchase of Warming Centre Services from one or more agencies for 12 hours/day (8:30AM to 8:30PM), 7 days a week within the City of North Bay from November 1, 2020 until March 31, 2021. (DNSSAB’s ability to offer Warming Centre Services is subject to provincial SSRF funding approval.)

If your agency is interested in providing these funded services, we would require the following information:

  • Location where service would be offered;
  • Capacity while abiding by social distancing requirements;
  • Hours of operation;
  • Number of staff required to operate the program;
  • Budget to operate the program;
  • Program description.

The deadline to submit this information is Friday, October 9th at 11:00AM to saxon.yanta@dnssab.ca. If in the meantime you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact saxon.yanta@dnssab.ca. We truly appreciate any consideration your agency can give to this pressing community need.
