If your residence does not meet your current accessibility needs, here are some options that may help you find an accessible home:

  • Housing Registry – The Nipissing District Housing Registry is a centralized application centre for many of our providers.
  • Homeownership Program – if you could use down payment assistance on a more accessible home and are eligible, this program may be of use to you.

Affordability

I'm being evicted.

If you are being evicted or at risk of being evicted, the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) program may be able to help.

The following community partners may also be of assistance:

  • Low Income People Involvement of Nipissing (LIPI) is a non-profit charitable organization that assists low income and vulnerable individuals and families with a menu of services in order to prevent homelessness and assist those at risk of homelessness.

I can't afford rent / heat / hydro.

If you are struggling to pay your rent, heat or hydro, the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) program may be able to help.

There are a number of rent subsidies that you may be able to qualify for, including:

  • Strong Communities Rent Supplements
  • Portable Housing Benefit
