The DNSSAB Data Portal increases DNSSAB’s accountability and transparency while informing the community and stakeholders in various areas of public policy, across DNSSAB’s departments and programs.

Providing public access to quality, timely data also helps to engage the community on the issues while increasing public education and awareness of the DNSSAB, and the local communities and operating environment.

The data published on the DNSSAB Data Portal is classified as Public Information from primary or secondary sources, and in various formats. This includes data that has been collected and analyzed from public sources, data that is included in Board reports, or other data that is being made publicly available providing the data is suitable for public dissemination and meets the privacy, confidentiality and approval process.

Our Data team has been involved in a comprehensive investigation to inform recommendations into the development of an open data initiative. The team has been working with internal staff, other municipalities and the community to ensure it uses the appropriate approach.

The open data initiative at the DNSSAB will continue to grow. This launch of data is the first step and we will strive to continually update, add to and enhance the site. Visualization tools will be provided and new datasets will be added to the site.

Our main focus is to publish data that will inform the community and public policy, and promote transparency.

The DNSSAB's open data initiative is still in its infancy. Our staff responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting are working towards releasing future datasets as soon as possible.

As per the DNSSAB Data Portal Policy, Data published to the DNSSAB Data Portal must be anonymized and protect privacy and confidentiality. The data must not contain any identifiable or personal information either directly or potentially (e.g., data with small cell counts that could potentially identify individuals or others when presented at low levels of detail or geography or cross-referenced with other information and data).

The DNSSAB complies with freedom of information and privacy laws and will NOT be releasing information that infringes on privacy rights.

Depending on the Department/Program area, the frequency of the portal data varies (for example: monthly, quarterly, and annual).  All published datasets will be updated based on the data frequency and the most current data available.

Please feel free to use our Open data feedback form to submit any feedback or comments.  Once received, the data team will review your feedback and follow up as necessary.

As we grow, we will be continually improving our open data portal site by providing additional features and new datasets. We appreciate your patience and welcome your feedback and input. Please email comments and suggestions to the data team at dataportal@dnnsab.ca or use our Open Data Feedback form.
