Housing Services is responsible for the administration and funding of a variety of housing and homelessness programs that assist with the current and future housing needs of citizens in the Nipissing District. This includes providing support to our local non-profit housing providers, our Local Housing Corporation—NDHC and affordable housing providers who operate rent-geared-to-income units, rent supplement programs and affordable housing. Housing Services also administers the Centralized Waiting List (Housing Access Nipissing) for social and market housing.
Through Reaching Home and the Homelessness Prevention Program—HPP, Housing Services is able to fund and administer programs that address local housing and homelessness priorities.
The work of Housing Services includes all levels of the housing continuum from unsheltered homelessness, emergency shelters, transitional and supportive housing, homelessness prevention, subsidized and affordable housing, to affordable homeownership.
